Sauteed collard greens recipe
Collard greens have a wonderful flavor of their own but we decided to infuse these sauteed collard greens with crispy bacon, garlic, and hot sauce to give them an extra kick. This collard greens recipe is gluten-free, low-carb, and keto-friendly – perfect as a side dish or a light meal on its own.
How to cook collard greens
The method to cook collard greens is very easy: There is no need for lengthy boiling or steaming with this quick and easy recipe for sauteed collards green! Rinse the collard greens with cold running water. Cut the stem out of each leaf running the knife on each side along the stalk, then chop the leaves.
Cook the bacon pieces until crispy, then remove half the bacon to use as garnish later. At this point, you might have a lot of rendered bacon fat. Discard half the bacon fat to avoid having your collard greens too greasy at the end.
Add onion and garlic to the pot, and cook until tender and fragrant. Add the chopped collard greens to the pot, along with chicken broth and seasonings. Simmer until the collard greens are very tender. Stir in the hot sauce, then garnish with reserved bacon and dried cranberries. Easy!
